Windhoek: The Arts & Culture COVID-19 Relief Fund of the National Arts Council of Namibia (NACN) with the support of the Ministry of Education, Arts, and Culture, is a temporary project-based relief fund to support the Cultural and Creative Industries (CCIs), to continue implementing their mandate and sustain their operations during the COVID-19 pandemic. The fund is open to individual artists, cultural workers, groups, and registered organisations.
Forty seven (47) eligible applications were received for the second cycle for review. These include 25 individuals, 11 groups and 11 organizations. Out of the 47 applications, six (6) individuals, six (6) groups and two (2) organisations were successful. The names and allocated amounts of each successful applicant from the second cycle are listed further below.
This brings the total of reviewed applications thus far to 82 with 24 successful applications. The successful applications to date are made up of: 11 individuals, six (6) groups and seven (7) organisations.
Eligible applications were reviewed by the Arts and Culture Covid-19 Relief Fund Committee, which is composed of 7 experts from the public and private sectors in the fields of art, culture, heritage, craft, music, media, and law. They are:
â— André Gariseb: Broadcaster and Communications Strategist.
â— Beatrix Bianca Boois: A Legal Practitioner at BB Boois Attorneys in Oshana Region;
â— Boyson Ngondo: Deputy Director in the Directorate of Culture and Heritage Programmes at the
Ministry of Education Arts and Culture;
â— Dalicia Olivier: Council Member at NACN;
â— M'kariko Amagulu: Acting Director in the Directorate of Arts at the Ministry of Education, Arts
and Culture;
â— Shareen Thude: Vice- Chairperson and Council Member at NACN
â— Silvanus Owoseb: Choir Director at Brothers in Christ Church in Erongo Region

The total sum to be awarded for the second cycle is N$342,000. The total sum awarded for both the first and second cycle is N$ 644 300.00. The next cycle results will be made public on 28 August, 17 September, 1 and 15 October. Fund applications are open until 30 September 2020.
