Hon. Dr. David Richard Namwandi was born on 28th Feb 1954 at Okapya village, Ondangwa District Oshana Region- Namibia
He received both his primary and secondary education in Namibia. Like other young Namibians in the seventies and eighties he left Namibia to participate in the, armed liberation struggle against foreign occupation, (led by SWAPO) only to return in 1989 with the implementation of UN resolution 235, which resulted into Namibia`s independence in 1990.
Namwandi holds various professional and academic qualifications from both Africa and Europe, including an MBA and a Doctoral from common Wealth University of Malawi. He is a Fellow and member of many professional bodies notably (UK) The association of Business Exeentives, ABE, (UK) Society of Business Practitioners (UK), Cyprus Institute of Marketing (CIM), (Cyprus) and many more.
Since 2007, he is a PhD candidate with Asia`e University of Malaysia. Until 21st of March 2010, when he was elected a member of National Assembly and appointed Deputy Minister of Education of the Republic of Namibia, he served as a chairperson and a board member of more than 12 companies and institutions. Such as Trustco Holdings Limited, a company listed on NSE and Africa board of the JSE, IUM, NQA, NCHE etc.
He founded The Institute of Higher Education in 1993, the fore runner of IUM (The international University of Management), the only private (non for profit) University in Namibia fully accredited by NQA (Namibia Qualifications Authority)
